Planning a funeral is such a difficult time for anyone, and often one that we aren’t prepared for.
That’s why you really want to be working with someone who is kind, calm and organised; someone who is sympathetic to your loss, and someone who is able to offer gentle guidance at a time when decisions can be difficult to make.
As a funeral celebrant I bring my compassion, my understanding, and my own life experience to the table, and I will assist you, as much or as little as you need, to create a a beautiful goodbye that truly reflects the life and the essence of the person who has died.
The funeral ceremony is an important part of the grieving, and ultimately, the healing process.
My professional and personal experience, in the world of death and dying, has taught me that the more empowered somebody feels to farewell a loved one in a way that feels right for them, the more authentic the goodbye, and in turn, the healthier their bereavement can be.
We can never fill the gap that is left when we lose someone we love, but we can farewell them and celebrate their life in a way that is meaningful, authentic and heartfelt.
Knowing that you have no regrets around what their funeral looked like, can make the journey of healing just that little bit easier.
When planning a funeral there are so many options and choices, but at the end of the day, the ceremony and celebration of their life should simply be an authentic and fitting tribute to the person who has died.
In general a ceremony will include, but is not limited to, the following elements:
Let’s plan your loved one’s funeral your way.
No matter how old or young your loved one was, no matter how they died or lived, no matter the successes they enjoyed or the struggles they endured, they deserve to be farewelled in a way that’s authentic to them and, above all, respectful.
Let me work with you as your funeral celebrant to create a funeral ceremony that’s perfect for them – and for you and others who were dear to them.
I’ll meet with you and whoever else I need to meet with, to get an idea of the type of funeral your loved one wanted. We’ll use that meeting to get as much information about them as we can.
I’ll send you a questionnaire or we will complete it together at our meeting that asks all sorts of questions about your loved one, so that we can create a truly personal service for them.
Based on what I learned in our first meeting, and from the information in the questionnaire, I’ll write and send you the first draft of your loved one’s funeral ceremony. I’ll ask you to go through it and make any changes you want, before you send it back to me.
I will be in communication with the Funeral Company to ensure that the service for your loved one is exactly as you wish.
We will work together to ensure that everyone's jobs are done, so nothing is forgotten. I will assist by providing sample music, prayers, verses and supply a template for a eulogy if required.
On the day of the funeral, I’ll arrive in plenty of time to meet you before the funeral begins. Then I’ll deliver your ceremony precisely how you asked me to – and ensure we’ve farewelled your loved one in a way that’s authentic and memorable!
